A member-firm, performs exploration, prepares a geotechnical engineering report with foundation design recommendations, for an architect working on a large structure supported by drilled shafts. When the drill shaft constructor offered innovative approach to save money, problems occurred with soil contamination, low level of strengths on the shafts, which led to more corrections and testing and higher cost overruns.
