Callers may use a geoprofessional's voice-mail greeting to form an image of that geoprofessional, and then use that image to form an image of the geoprofessional's firm. To achieve image management, you need an effective greeting, which is the subject of this GBA Best Practices monograph — Voice-Mail Greetings — prepared by GBA's Business Practices Committee. In a section titled "You've Heard This Before," the new publication conveys some of the trite-phrase don'ts practitioners should eliminate from their greetings, e.g., "Hello. You've reached the desk of ----------," "I'm either away from my desk or on another line," "Your call is important to me," and "Leave me a message at the sound of the tone."
