WORKPLACE BULLYING
| Description |
|
GBA’s Business Practices Committee developed this GBA Best Practices monograph in response to a national survey indicating that 35% of the U.S. workforce – 53.5 million people – say they’ve been bullied on the job; another 15% say they’ve witnessed it. Although the problem can create severe liability risks for some employers, the principal reason for developing and enforcing a rigorous anti-bullying policy is to create and maintain “a positive work environment where the entire workforce is engaged, united in its commitment to the firm’s success.” The monograph provides background information about workplace bullying, identifies sources of additional information, and presents a model workplace-bullying policy for GBA-Member Firms’ reference in developing a policy of their own.
